light through the trees
Something about this simple winter scene caught my eye. I was in Logan Lake on assignment and I started driving a backroad to see what I could find.

Captain my Captain
Retired fire captain Barry Foster, right, takes a final spin down memory lane with his Station 2 crew on the 1926 LaFrance fire truck on Friday at Station 1. Foster retired with all 30-and-a-half years working in Kamloops and is looking forward to starting a fishing charter company in his new home Port McNeill on Vancouver Island. Station 2 firefighter Ryan Cail, left, steers the engine with Chris Burnham, Wade Lindoff, Clipper Sheperd and Sheldon Guertin riding atop the vintage truck.

"hoo do you love?"
As a child, I was used to hearing my father's saying, "If you want to soar with the eagles, you can't hoot with the owls all night". It was his way of letting his teenage sons know his feelings about staying out late. Especially when after graduation we were living in his house.
Thanks for the advise.
I love you dad. -- EAG

Sneeze factory
A pic of my little pecker friend.
On Frozen Pond... (hopefully not golden)
Long track skater Tyler Martin of Kelowna, centre, does his best to catch Ondra Maseja of Sechelt in boys 300 metre long track speed skating on Saturday on frozen Logan Lake. The Logan Lake Loop Speed Skating event is hosted by the Kamloops River City Racers Speed Skating Club, drawing 75 competitors and 200 spectators from the lower mainland and Okanagan area.

things you won't see me doing
Former KTW city editor Ryan Kuhn knows a thing or two about ripping up the Sidewinder trail at the Kamloops Bike Ranch. He helped build some of the new trail systems there. Looks like he's moving his wife and daughter to the Kootenays - taking another job with the local Health Authority.
Maybe his departure from Kamloops will leave room on the bike trail for me to start riding again.
We'll see. I suppose I need a bike first.
I already have a spare tire. -- EAG
